I have an 01 9-3 SE with an automatic transmission. Recently I tried something. I switched the driving mode to Sport, disengaged the TCS (traction control), left footed the brake while pressing the gas. This pre-loaded the power convertor in the transmission and spooled up the turbo. With the engine revving at around 3000 RPM I released the brake and floored the accelerator simultaneously. Both front wheels spun briefly and off I went. I swear (but don't hold me to this) that the 1-2, 2-3 shift went MUCH quicker than normal.
I tried this same procedure with manually shifting from 1-2, 2-3 but the engine wanted to bump off of the rev limiter before shifting.
I wouldn't recommend doing this a lot but it did seem to help with launches. Anyone else ever try this?

I don't drive an auto, but that's how most auto trannies work

that makes sence considering how auto trannys work (shift off oil pressure) it would make sence that revving the piss out of it and pre loading the entire drive train would improve shfting performance
