Hello,
I am new to this forum and a new saab owner as well. I bought a 2001 9-3 hatchback a few months ago and am absolutely loving it - but have already lost one key. The car came with 2 keys so I only have one now, and am trying to replace the other. The dealer can replace and program a new key for about $200. I have heard from various people that you can buy keys on ebay and just bring them into the dealer to have them programed to work with your car for a lot cheaper. All of the keys I have found for purchase online are used - this confuses me....doesn't the key need to be cut to fit in my lock? Is it possible to buy a used key for my saab?
Thanks!
I've added a photo of the used key I found online.

OK, here's an answer. The Remote part of the key can be programmed to work with your car using a tech2 tool. Now the key portion of the key could be around $80 and has to be ordered at the dealer from the factory. Some dealers are able to cut the keys, but not many really.
