1996 2.0L turbo bucks when given too much throttle at lower engine rpm (< 4k), it feels like the same situation that would make a normally aspirated engine detonate, so maybe I'm feeling a cutout due to knock sensor? If the throttle is eased on, the "bucking" doesn't appear, and we accelerate reasonably fast, but it seems like this car ought to be able to handle lotsa throttle. 83k miles (I bought it at 82k), no smoke, fresh charge of Mobil 1, 93 Octane Shell, outside temp 70 -95 F. I'm new to Saab's, and this is my first turbo anything, sure would appreciate any help-

change the spearkplugs, make sure to get the CORRECT plugs for the car and have them gapped I believe to .39, but you might want to check the spec.

I'm currently having a similar issue on my 97 turbo as well, but I think its one of two things. The first being a pressure plate or clutch spring issue, or a bad mount. Its compounded by the dreaded clutch cable.

Yah, it quite possibly is the clutch AND the motor mounts. When you accelerate quickly with the bad clutch plate, it grabs quickly and swings the motor back on the mounts which them absorbs practically all your horsepower. It sucks but after the engine has warmed up doesnt seem as bad.
