OK...I have an '03 Saab 9-3 Arc 2.0T with an auto tranny and just over 62,000 miles on it. I have been having a few problems with it. First off...the tranny had to be replaced at 49,000 miles. But now my SID is telling me that it is time for service, My rear passanger door will lose all power from time to time (meaning that the lights on the door will not light up, the lock will not work and the window will not work), also as of yesterday when I stop at a light or stop sign and let the car idle...the RPMs will go down to the idle area and then they will drop farther down and then spike up causing the car to jolt forward and shake. It almost sounds like it is going to stall. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with my car??? I have never had a Saab before and I am lame when it comes to all this stuff.

Anything would be much appreciated!!

the Time for service is nothing, but a milage triggered reminder...try pressing the "CLEAR" button until the SID beeps two times.  The irratic idle....have you been feeding it with good gas?  Does is happen with A/C on or any time?

The idle happens usually when I first start the car and drive it a little bit. I have been using the same gas I always do...but I might have gotten a bad batch. Do you have any idea about the door? That just baffles me...the dealer has no idea because when they look at it there is no code in the computer...

Our car had the idle issue as well. The Saab dealership told me to replace the serpentine belt and tensioner, and it's good as new. We also had the spark plugs replaced at the same time for another issue, I'm not sure if that helped our start idle issue.

while the tensioneer can affect idle it was most likely the plugs that did it for you.

to OP:  I'm clueless as to what's with that door. It's either at the switchpack that's in the console or with the connector that's in the door.

It still did it after the plugs were changed, and dosen't anymore since the new belt. I thought it was strange, and expected the plugs to fix it as well. They explained it as something to deal with the belt slipping and the car not getting enough charging system power (alternator)
