I have an 01 9-3 SE with an automatic transmission. Recently I tried something. I switched the driving mode to Sport, disengaged the TCS (traction control), left footed the brake while pressing the gas. This pre-loaded the power convertor in the transmission and spooled up the turbo. With the engine revving at around 3000 RPM I released the brake and floored the accelerator simultaneously. Both front wheels spun briefly and off I went. I swear (but don't hold me to this) that the 1-2, 2-3 shift went MUCH quicker than normal. I tried this same procedure with manually shifting from 1-2, 2-3 but the engine wanted to bump off of the rev limiter before shifting. I wouldn't recommend doing this a lot but it did seem to help with launches. Anyone else ever try this?
