I've just been told that I need to replace my oxygen sensor for my 1999 9-5 SE V6 sedan.  I was told that it was the downstream sensor after the converter.  The shop was calling around pricing the part out for me but I'm wondering if I'm better off buying the part myself and installing it?  Is it fairly easy to do for a non mechanical kind of person and what should I xpect to pay for the part and the labor if I choose to do it?  Thanks

it's a DIY job, but be ready for it to be a royal PITA if you never done it before.  I'd say 3 hours should be enough for a first-timer.  Although a shop shouldn't charge for more than 40 minutes of labor on this...with a lift it's very easy to do.  Try looking at http://www.eeuroparts.com and http://www.europartsdirect.com/ for the part.  Do not go with a universal unit.
