Alright, we have a strange problem with our Saab. It's a '04 Arc Convertible, Automatic. We were driving home one day and it decided to start shifting extremely slow into 2nd gear. So I decided to take it in and have them check the trans fluid (I don't have a garage right now). It ended up being a quart low. I asked if it was leaking, and they said no signs of leaks. Is there anywhere else the trans fluid can go, or might it of just not been filled completely when the trans was flushed last (before we bought it so more than 6k miles ago).

Any ideas??

transmission oil cooler.

edit:  the banjo bolts on it to be precise.  They tend to get loose and slowly leak.

Alright... I'm gunna buy a repair manual for this car asap... Which one would you recomend?

They had made a comment about an internal transmission leak, this is something I hadn't ever heard of before... Were they just pullin my leg, or is this something that could be an issue?

I recommend a saab WIS...look for it on ebay.  It's expensive but worth it.  Internal leak as in the input shaft seal leak? That would show up as fluid between the block and the tranny.  There's no other place for fluid to go...

Thanks, and that's what I thought...

Also I thought these transmissions held alot more than 2 quarts (what Autozone.com says)...

my manual tranny holds just a tad over 2 quarts. The automatics I don't know about.

"Gearbox Malfunction Contact Saab Service" Well, not completely sure what's going on with it anymore... It's going in to the dealership thursday. I think that it's mixing coolant and trans fluid... According to Kristie the transmission feels like it's got sand in it... I don't think that's a good sign... lol I've already talked with the service director, and he said we'll figure it out since it's out of warranty (by 3k but not time, it would still have til late Feb if not for miles)... But I had brought up the transmission randomly slipping while it was under warranty, and their service advisor sluffed it off as it having an adaptive transmission...
