When you look at your valve cover the direct ignition cassette is that strip in going accross the valce cover. It's the module that houses the ignition coils. It can be either red or black (could also be blue or green, but I'm sure you don't have those).

I'll check that out....the tech is ordering a fuel pump and I will get back on the forum when that is installed and let you know if it corrects the problem. Thanks again for the input Roto. gary

How much are you getting the pump for? There's a good chance that I can get it cheaper if he's getting it from the dealer.

just to update the thread. The CPS(crankshaft position sensor) is very possible issue here. It's about $130. The reason for this would be the constant heat it is exposed to. And you can see that it works when the engine is cold, but when it warms up it just quits working.

FYI, it did turn out to be the CPS and I'm back on the road. After replacing the fuel pump and ignition module to no effect I called my Saab guy at the dealership (130 miles away) and he told me what the problem was without even looking at it. The GM dealership I had to take it to didn't have a clue. Thanks for the input Roto.

What about the fuel filter? Has that been changed? I just bought a '96 900s convertible and while I was test driving it there was no problems starting it. But when I went to pick it up upon purchase it didn't want to start. The guy I bought it from said he sent it to a garage to get the fuel filter changed and that they probably put it on backwards.

Just a thought.

Unfortunately most private sellers who aren't really into these cars are alking out of their ass...I know my PO was a major ass and didn't disclose 90% of the problems (not that I wouldn't have gotten the car). if it works at one point and than doesn't at another and than doesn't work again than the fuel filter has nothing to do with it.

I own a 2001 9-3 2.2 Tid coupe. Recently i've found it's taking some tiem to start. It's never failled yet, but certainly takes too long.

It was fully serviced in October 2007 and has covered 64,500 miles.

Any ideas?
